Getting a sneak peek into how webpages are constructed - something I’ve been interacting with since birth - was eye-opening. Going to other web pages and guessing what tags, elements, and attributes the creator used for different parts of the page made the concept of web pages seem much more doable and I-can-do-it-too than previously. I’ve had a bit of exposure to HTML in another class, but I learned today the difference between DOCTYPE and the HTML tag. One tells us that the document is an HTML file and the other tells us HTML is being used in this specific area of the file. Both are important to include because even in a primarily HTML file, you can add other languages so it's important to make the distinction. Something else I learned about is the em and strong tags. I have have used the i and b tags so it was surprising to me that something else so similar also existed!
